Panchakarma
Panchakarma Treatment
The age-old science of Ayurveda holds that ailments are caused by the build-up of ama, or metabolic poisons. The five purification therapies, or Panchakarma treatment, provide a thorough cleansing of the body that helps to assist the restoration of the body’s natural equilibrium and internal healing.
It is a process of purifying the whole body to attain proper balance of Vatha, Pitha and Kapha based on Panchakarma and Swetakarma treatment in our traditional way.
Panchakarma literally means “five purifying therapies,” which help the body become purer by getting rid of poisons that have collected. It includes five main therapies that are tailored to each patient’s specific health needs.
This package includes Body Massage, Snahapanam Vamanam, Virechanam, Nasyam, Sneha Vasthi, Sirovasthi, Brahmana Vasthi, Dhara, Pizhichil, Gandoosam, Medicated Bath, Medicated Steam Bath etc.
Treatment Duration: 28 to 51 days

Phases of Panchakarma Treatment
3 phases comprise the Panchakarma treatment: the preparatory phase (Purvakarma), the main stage (Pradhanakarma), and the post-therapeutic care phase (Paschat karma).
Purvakarma (Poorva Karma)
Purvakarma is used to build up toxins in the alimentary canal and strengthen the digestive fire. It might involve actions such as Deepana-Pachana, Snehana & Swedana. Our wellness resorts offer both localized therapies like Kativasti and Shirovasti as well as Kerala-style Purvakarma therapies like Pizhchil, Dhara, and Elakizhi. Usually, this phase lasts 4 to 5 days:
- Deepana-Pachana: Taking herbal formulations that stimulate hunger and promote digestion is known as Deepana-Pachana. Herbal remedies like as ajwain, ginger, and black pepper are commonly used to increase metabolism.
- Snehana (using oil massages or consuming herbal ghee): During Panchakarma, Snehana involves applying medicated ghee and oils to the gastrointestinal tract to facilitate the easy removal of accumulated toxins. Massages using oil or Snehana applied externally aid in circulation improvement and muscular relaxation. The oil is selected based on each person’s unique condition. The patient is given herbal ghees or oils to drink during internal snehana. During purificatory therapy, this lubricates the body’s pathways and makes it easier for pollutants to pass through.
- Swedana (Sweat therapy) : also known as swedana, involves subjecting oneself to heat in order to cause perspiration. This facilitates the release of toxins through sweating and helps mobilize those released by Snehana therapy. Additionally, it relieves abnormalities in the Kapha dosha and stiff joints.
Pradhanakarma (Pradhana Karma)
Following the Purvakarma, the person goes through a personalized series of Pradhanakarmas. Depending on his health, the patient will receive one or more of these therapies. The five therapies are as follows:
- Vamana (Medical emesis)
- Therapeutic purgation, or virechana
- Vasti (Ayurvedic medication enema)
- Nasya (Medicated oils or powders instilled in the nose)
- Raktamokshana, or “bloodletting therapy”
Paschat Karma
The phase following detox, known as Paschat karma, is when the emphasis changes to eating and living differently in accordance with your doctor’s recommendations. It entails taking oral prescription drugs for rejuvenation (Rasayana).
